The context
Recent geopolitical tensions have highlighted the vulnerability of certain strategic sectors of the European Union, such as industry and agro-industry, to international instability linked to the energy market. In this scenario, energy independence and security have become fundamental priorities for industrial and manufacturing production.
The use of renewable energy sources,solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal, is an effective solution for achieving energy independence. However, to achieve complete industrial self-sufficiency, it is necessary to integrate different technologies, combining renewable energy production, energy storage, and energy efficiency.
Project objectives
The project aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices on EU policies that promote:
- The integration of renewable energies.
- Energy storage.
- Energy efficiency.
The ultimate goal is to create self-sufficient industries, taking into account national and sectoral variables and company size. The trend toward energy independence is growing, driven by economic, environmental, and social factors.

Opportunities for LE2C Members
Thanks to LE2C’s participation in the project, Cluster members have the opportunity to access an international environment for discussion on innovative policies and solutions through:
-
Study visits and workshops in partner countries, to observe local policies and pilot actions;
-
Networking opportunities with public and private stakeholders;
-
Exchange of best practices, with the possibility to showcase their initiatives at the European level.
Concrete experiences such as that of Gamma Energia S.r.l., recognized as a European best practice for supporting sustainable industrial facilities integrated with energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions, demonstrate how participation in the project can offer visibility and international recognition.
Through Repower Industries, LE2C also supports the active participation of its members in international initiatives, fostering collaborations and development opportunities. The participation of Regione Lombardia – Directorate General for Local Authorities, Mountains, Energy Resources and Water Resource Management in the project, as an Associated Policy Authority, provides a privileged channel for dialogue on energy policies and support instruments for companies in the energy transition.
