Energy efficiency and emissions reduction in industry: the case of Gamma Energia within Repower Industries

The experience of Gamma Energia S.r.l., a member of LE2C, has been recognized as a European best practice within the Repower Industries project, of which the Cluster is a partner.

The Repower Industries project, funded by the Interreg Europe program, aims to promote effective regional policies for the decarbonization of the industrial sector and the dissemination of energy-efficient technologies.

Gamma Energia, a member of LE2C, supported DANIEL S.p.A. in the design and construction of a new sustainable production plant in Cassano d'Adda, completed in 2023. The site, covering an area of 10,000 m², integrates a combination of advanced technological solutions that improve overall energy performance and reduce environmental impact:

  • 513 kW photovoltaic system, covering approximately 50% of the plant's energy needs;
  • high-efficiency heat pumps for heating and cooling the premises;
  • LED lighting with presence sensors to optimize consumption;
  • centralized energy flow monitoring system;
  • charging stations for electric vehicles, available to employees and visitors.

The project was made possible thanks to a mix of national public incentives, including the Ecobonus 2023 (for the replacement of heating systems), Ministerial Decree No. 358 of August 25, 2021 (for the installation of electric charging infrastructure), and contributions from the Energy Services Manager (GSE) to support production from renewable sources.

 These support tools have enabled the company to reduce gas consumption by over 50,000 m³ per year, cut CO₂ emissions by almost 100 tons, and achieve annual savings of around €150,000, with a return on investment in just four years.

 The case of Gamma Energia clearly demonstrates how public support measures can encourage the adoption of clean technologies in the industrial sector, incentivizing the transition to sustainable production models and contributing to the achievement of the European Green Deal objectives.
