The conference “The Future of Industry: Cutting-Edge Solutions for the Energy Transition – From Carbon Capture to Biomethane” is the centerpiece of #LE2CDay2025, the annual event organized by the LE2C Cluster to drive innovation and accelerate the transition toward a sustainable energy model.
The conference will take place on april 3rd, 2025, from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm at Politecnico di Milano - EN:lab | Dipartimento di Energia, Edificio 31, Via Lambruschini - 20156 Milano.
The conference, open to the public, will provide a key opportunity for dialogue between institutions, academics, companies, and professionals. It will be a moment to explore the latest innovations and strategies to tackle the global challenges of the energy transition.
This year, the focus will be on two essential pillars of decarbonization:
- Carbon Capture
- Biomethane
This technologies are crucial to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and building an energy future grounded in sustainability and innovation.

The day will feature high-level speeches, in-depth analyses, and a roundtable discussion exploring key topics of the energy transition:
- Regional Energy Transition Policies: An in-depth look at the strategies of the Regione Lombardia to support the decarbonization of industry, with contributions from Confindustria Lombardia on the challenges faced by businesses;
- Funding Opportunities: The European keynote speaker will present the main funding opportunities available through the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan;
- CO₂ and Biomethane: A roundtable with academic experts and entrepreneurs will discuss CO₂ capture technologies and the strategic role of biomethane, with a focus on the Lombard and Italian contexts;
- RISE Project and Bluefoundation case study: innovation and best practices' concrete example .
The event will end with an interactive Q&A session, which will provide participants with an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and explore the topics discussed.

focus on RISE project
RISE project aims to accelerate the spread of innovation by promoting investments for sustainable interregional cooperation. It supports the less developed regions of Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Portugal, contributing to the building of innovative ecosystems and the identification of investment projects. RISE focuses on green and digital transition, as well as smart manufacturing in these regions. The main areas of intervention are:
- Mineral raw materials
- Forest biomass and circular economy
- Bioenergy and sustainable construction
The project also involves the expertise of regions in transition (Finland, Sweden, Spain) and developed regions (France, Italy).
During the conference, Bluefoundation will present its commitment to reducing and monitoring CO₂ emissions as a successful example of the RISE project. Bluefoundation has participated in thematic orientation activities, networking, and matchmaking offered by RISE, and has been selected for the next phase of coaching and project development. Currently, RISE partners have initiated a dedicated pathway for selected participants to support them in the development of investment phases for the identified projects.
