LE2C met with Kenyan and Tanzanian stakeholders from the renewable energy sector, with the aim of organizing business missions in the near future to create collaborations between European SMEs and African companies.
The exploratory mission took place between late June and early July 2022, and started in Nairobi, Kenya. The ESECA project partners had 2 days dense with interesting meetings with 2 universities and research centers, 2 associations, and 1 accelerator.
The ESECA consortium then moved to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, and participated in ARE Energy Acess Investment Forum 2022, an international trade fair that brought together key players in the energy and climate sector with the goal of increasing access to clean electricity globally. As part of the fair, the Consortium met with 1 university, 2 consulting firms, 4 associations, 5 companies, and 1 research and development center. In addition, a field trip to a photovoltaic plant in Zanzibar was held on the last day of the fair, during which participants discussed in a panel discussion opportunities and critical issues offered by the renewable energy sector on the Tanzanian island.
NEXT STEPS
These exploratory missions were organized with a view to building relationships with local stakeholders in the renewable energy sector, with the aim of organizing business missions to these countries in 2023 to create opportunities for collaboration between European SMEs and African companies. The next event under the ESECA project will be on September 15 and 16, 2022 in Lille, France, where the first networking workshop will be held. During the event, companies in the renewable sector will be able to engage with other companies already operating in Africa and African stakeholders. If yo are interested, pre-register HERE.
